Gambling, Gaming and Technology Use (GGTU) is working to build a stronger mental health and addiction system in Ontario by supporting addictions and mental health service providers. The program provides training and education, develops digital tools and resources, and facilitates knowledge sharing related to problem gambling, video gaming and internet addiction.
Meet the GGTU team
Our team is a dedicated group that works collaboratively to strengthen service provider capacity to deliver evidence-based treatments that address gambling, gaming and technology use issues in Ontario. In this section, you will meet and learn more about the GGTU team.
This time around, we meet Peter Chen, who has been with CAMH for 29 years. He is currently supporting the GGTU team as an Education Specialist.
In GGTU, Peter is well known as an expert facilitator, with superb knowledge in the practice of mindfulness, and is our go-to for a fun joke or meaningful quote.
Question: What projects are you currently working on?
Facilitation of “Introduction to Problem Technology Use,” a foundational online course, followed by “Introduction to Problem Gambling,” a foundational online course being offered in late June/July. I am also busy delivering Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) responsible gambling trainings to various customer service sites, which has been a partnership with PSSP for a number of years.
Question: What excites you the most about working at CAMH?
Being able to do what I love doing, which is teaching. And also working with an amazing team of supportive and creative colleagues.
Question: What is one thing that your colleagues would be surprised to learn about you?
I just shared in our team meeting that I like playing the guitar and singing, and I also used to play in a steelband. So now they know this. I may have also shared that I trained in a Persian style of martial arts for about 20 years.
Special Features
GGTU is launching a survey (see link below) to assess the needs of our digital resources. We want to hear from you about the topics we should be focusing on, and the types of resources and digital products we should be offering in the year ahead.
