About the webinar
On February 16, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) held a webinar event to promote the release of the 'Addressing Opioid Stigma in Pharmacies – Strategies for Pharmacy Professionals’ toolkit that provides valuable insights and resources for frontline pharmacy professionals to support people taking opioids to mitigate the negative impacts of stigma.
The toolkit describes strategies for reducing stigma around opioids and the people who use them, including those prescribed opioids to manage pain or treat opioid use disorder or those seeking naloxone kits. The toolkit illustrates some of these strategies by applying them to situations that pharmacy professionals encounter in practice.
To mark the release of the toolkit, Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam joined to provide opening remarks.
Following her address, the toolkit elements were presented, followed by a panel discussion moderated by CAMH and University of Toronto Advanced Practice Clinical Leader and Clinician Educator Maria Zhang.
