The following evidence briefs were developed to help with the selection of evidence-informed interventions by the Justice Collaboratives that are part of Ontario’s Systems Improvement through Service Collaboratives (SISC) initiative.
The Service Collaboratives are community-led bodies focused on improving access and transitions between the various sectors that provide services to people with mental illness and addictions in various regions of the province. The Justice Collaboratives’ focus is on improving services for youth with mental illness, addictions, and identified specialized needs who are involved with the justice system.
The briefs were developed by the Performance Measurement and Implementation Research (PMIR) team and EENet, which are part of the Provincial System Support Program (PSSP) at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). They introduce the reader to various frameworks, programs, and resources (e.g., screening measures and transition protocols) for identifying and effectively managing individuals with mental health issues who are at risk for or involved with the criminal justice system.
These briefs were based on a targeted review of selected reports and articles. They are living documents and the information on which they’re based may evolve over time. While we’ve taken great care in preparing these briefs, we acknowledge the possibility of human error due to search and time limitations. If you have any comments or suggestions to improve their content, please contact us at eenet@camh.ca.
